Where will you fit in?

Market Access Africa (MAA) is looking for a Finance and Operations Analyst to support the finance, accounting and administration related tasks within the organization. The Analyst must be creative and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, and results-oriented. This is an exciting growth opportunity for an early career professional. You will play a key role in supporting the establishment of the organization’s finance and operations function and other performance improvement initiatives. The Analyst will provide financial analysis expertise and to be able to develop and maintain complex financial models that assist the leadership in decision-making.

The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, finance and accounting, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Analyst will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

What will you do?

Finance

  • Capturing and reconciling bank statements and credit card transactions from source to trial balance for the organization
  • Ensuring all unbilled Work in Progress is invoiced timeously
  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile assets, liabilities, accruals, and journals
  • Provide support towards month-end and year-end close process as directed by the Finance Controller
  • Participate in financial analysis, financial planning and project budget process
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Assist with group audits and tax compliance
  • Communicate effectively with clients
  • Check, process and record all payments, administer invoices and expenses claims received by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements

Admin

  • Maintain responsibility for managing databases of consultants, payment schedules, debtors, and creditors
  • Coordinate project trackers, including business development, annual departmental workplans, and organizational performance matrices
  • Oversee a broad variety of administrative tasks for the MAA executives, including managing an extremely active calendar of appointments; completing expense reports; composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential; arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas; and compiling documents for travel-related meetings
  • Support facilitation of meetings, including setting agendas, preparing briefing notes for participants, and documenting meeting highlights and action steps
  • Support special projects through research, data collection, analysis, and media monitoring, and develop concise memos as briefings on new opportunities
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, with an uncompromising attention to detail and a firm commitment to quality
  • Assisting the management team with recruitment processes, including job advertisements, drafting job offer letters and onboarding new consultants
  • Manage the filing system, filing contracts and all related paperwork within MAA

What are we looking for?

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance or related
  • 3-5 years of years project finance and administration experience is required
  • Project management experience
  • Min 3 years’ experience with Xero
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Fluency in French is a bonus
